B is for BHALA

From Babies to Butterflies …

What began as a bean has transformed before my eyes into a magnificent being and, as such, this baby blog has gone through a metamorphosis from one about babies to one about growing up. Just like the caterpillar spins its cocoon at a moment no sooner or later than just the right time, my blog has, in its time, tracked my transition from larva to the unfurling of my wings as I emerged in my 40s as a butterfly.

bhala means write in Zulu, the language of my birth home, and good or nice in Hindi, the language of my soul home, so this is, in essence, my ‘nice writing’ about Me.

I took up boxing and blogging when I became a mother … both mediums of stress release to deal with the two new strangers in my home – the new baby and the man my husband became to me. As I transformed from the person who hated being a mother to the one who hated being a wife, I took up running and, as my toenails turned black, my blog took on a whole new route. Sometimes off-road and sometimes mundane, you can track me through the suburbs, up the mountains and over sandy beaches. Love me or hate me, it’s none of my business, but I urge you to have the courage to share your opinion on what I have to say.

And if you like my voice, read my honest take on backpacking around Southeast Asia. You can buy never go trekking on Kalahari (South African site) or Amazon (US site) or just Google never go trekking to find out if it’s available near you.

And if you need an editor’s eye for detail or want to weave a bit of magic into that piece you’re writing, whether creative or business-oriented, contact me for a quote.
